Mr. Sparkle Super Shine Car Wash

IMG_6610.JPG

The morning shed its hapless light

On sheets dyed pink

hastily applied chapstick

smeared across lips

onto unwelcome moments

the secrets between us

long since told

the self-destruction twice as bold

we sniffed cherry cola trees

through the soap spray

somehow I knew

when the flood retreated

salt traces would remain

our wounds complimentary

We bought keychains and stale chips

and we stood

two people full

broken things inside us

becoming clean
